With more than 15 years of advanced research studies, Jon M Queen DC is one of the opportunists of these days. His most comprehensive studies involve the green energy, but not just anywhere. He concentrated his studies over Ukraine, a less popular country in this field. With all these, Ukraine presents a huge potential from this point of view. The green energy has all the requirements to succeed in this country due to its past connections and its current relief. At the same time, Jon M Queen has also studied the restrictions and limitations in the former Soviet Union field. His studies began with the government’s idea to privatize some of the power distribution local firms. In 2009, the Cabinet of Ministers proposes the privatization of not less than 15 such companies – referred to as oblenergos among the officials.
Jon M Queen DC saw the move as an idea to raise the election funds. Regardless of the reason, the move seems like a pretty good one, especially if you consider Ukraine’s past with the power. In 1986, the Chernobyl disaster affected the entire world, but especially the country population. These days, more than 25 years after the catastrophe, the nuclear power is still the main source in the country. The privatization move was also stimulated by the political pressure to develop green energy rather than taking any risks. The upcoming few years didn’t bring in any changes, but these days, the situation is obvious. The government adopted the Green Tariff program, which allows any investor to join this field and benefit from the privatization. The program is about to be completely adopted by 2030, although it has already been started.
With all these, Jon M Queen has also studied the drawbacks of this move. As the situation is presented, it looks like an amazing opportunity for every investor. But at the same time, the government aims to raise some other fields as well; therefore one of the restrictions implies using 30% Ukrainian origin equipment. By 2014, this percentage will grow to 50%. Considering Ukraine’s power to develop such equipment, this is a major obstacle in privatization. The investors are chased away since they got no possibilities.
Regardless of the result, Jon M Queen DC agrees that this move was smart. In time, this whole privatization will bring a lot of positive aspects. At some point, the infrastructure will definitely be improved and able to support the move.
